PING-PONG NIGHT 13 MARCH 2025

Tonight at the Robert Atkinson Community Centre, it was ping pong and hot chocolates! A much warmer vibe than the pizza night, and just as much fun. We had a great turnout, with everyone bringing their own rackets – some serious players amongst us!

We even welcomed two new faces, which was fantastic. There were some truly impressive serves, and a few... let's say, creative returns. But overall, it was a brilliant night filled with laughter and warm drinks.

PING-PONG NIGHT 6 MARCH 2025

"So, the Robert Atkinson Community Centre's ping pong and pizza night on March 6th. What a spectacle! We had a delightful mix of table tennis 'artists' and, shall we say, 'enthusiastic participants.' Picture this:

The "Pro" Problem:

We had a few folks who clearly treat ping pong like an Olympic sport. Their serves were like mini-missiles, while the rest of us were just trying to avoid getting hit. This led to some hilarious mismatches, where a 'pro' would return a wildly flailing attempt with such precision it would leave the other player stunned.

The "Beginner's Luck" Phenomenon:

Then there were the 'newcomers,' whose technique involved more luck than skill. One particularly memorable rally involved a player closing their eyes, swinging wildly, and somehow managing to hit the ball back... and winning the point. Pure chaos!

Pizza-Powered Plays:

Of course, the pizza was a crucial part of the evening. It fueled the competition, and also led to some sticky-fingered serves and the occasional 'accidental' near misses of the pizza boxes. Trying to take a drink or eat pizza between plays, was a challenge in itself.

The net problem:

It also seems that the net had a personal vendetta against some players. The amount of times that the net was hit, or moved was very funny.

In short, it was a night of great food and wonderfully varied ping pong skills. A true Thornaby triumph!"

Level X Middlesbrough, 1st Feb 2025

A Night of Speed, Scores, and (Slightly) Sore Losers

Our recent social event at Level X in Middlesbrough was a good turnout ! We hit the go-karting track first, and what a low budget “Fast & Furious” movie that was. We had everything from seasoned pros Dom Toretto’s who looked like they'd been born with a steering wheel in their hands, to nervous first-timers just trying to figure out which pedal was which. And then, of course, there were the guys who, despite consistently finishing at the back of the pack, were absolutely convinced they were robbed.

After the high-octane thrills of the go-karts, we moved on to the basketball game. This is where things got intense. I'm talking sweat, determination, and the kind of competitive spirit you usually only see during the World Cup final.

Big thanks to everyone who came along. It was a brilliant night of laughs, friendly competition, and some serious (and not-so-serious) sporting action. If you missed out, don't worry, we'll be planning another social event soon.

Hollywood Bowling Middlesbrough, 28 Nov 2024

Teesside Hollywood Bowling, 28th Nov 2024

A Strike-ing Success!

Our recent social event at Teesside Hollywood Bowling on November 28th was a fantastic night! We had a great turnout and everyone was ready to roll! From seasoned bowlers who were knocking down pins like pros, to those who were just happy to keep the ball out of the gutter, everyone had a blast. There were definitely some impressive strikes and spares, and maybe a few (or a lot of) gutter balls along the way. We saw some interesting bowling techniques, let's put it that way!

The friendly competition was fierce, with everyone vying for the top score. There were cheers for every strike and groans for every missed pin. Whether you were a natural bowler or a complete beginner, the atmosphere was electric. By the end of the night, we were all feeling a little bit competitive (and maybe a little bit sore from all that bowling!).

Big thanks to everyone who came along. It was a brilliant night of laughs, friendly competition, and some seriously fun bowling action. If you missed out on this strike-ing event, don't worry, we'll be planning another social event soon!
